The Philippine Stock Exchange Index as of February 26, 2021. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) closed the the last trading day of February at 6,795, losing 2.8% from the previous week’s close of 6,991 and down 4.8% on a year-to-date basis.
Amidst the usual month-end window dressing, the index dipped to as low as 6,681 (-1.1%) in the first hour of trading but managed to slowly crawl up to positive territory, winding up the day +0.58% from the previous trading day’s close of 6,756.
The local stock market barometer was expected to decline today but managed an impressive turn-around to close the day 39 points higher.
Sector indices are mixed, with the financials, services, and property sectors posting gains while the industrial, holding firms, and mining & oil sectors all closed in red.
